Subject : English Topic : SUPERSTITIONS Rhyme Grade : 4th Targeted Standards : Reading, Writing and creative Expression. First of all I would like to thank to the author of the book Teaching Young Learners to Think to gave this great activity. I adopted that activity (Can you Read This) and prepared a new worksheet of my own to this activity. A rhyme about superstitions in grade IV. " You can walk under ladders What's wrong in that? You can see any number of jet black cats No problem in that. You can break a million mirrors And not shed a tear It's all just stuff and nonsense Simply groundless fears." To teach this rhyme first of all I showed a video of superstitions around the world. Later I interacted with my children by asking few questions, What are the superstitions?, What are the reasons to believe?..etc. Once I gave the explanation and reasons of the superstitions, I explained the rhyme while doing the choreograph
