Expand the Number Activity.

Image
Number cards are very useful to teachers to teach mathematics in primary section. To develop fundamental and basic concepts cards will help them to learn easily. And if the teacher is dealing multi class, it will help to engage the classroom effectively. Even it is single class cards help the teacher to prepare relating activities.  I am using these cards to create lot of activities of various concepts. Children can practice independently or with in peer group. Here I used the cards to develop expansion of a number concept. I made my students sit in a circle and placed these cards at middle. Now I instructed my children to pick two cards each. Then I gave empty worksheets. Children wrote number and expanded it. Like that I allotted them this work and I taught another class.

Concept and Mind maps

Image
A mind map is a diagram used to visually organize information. A mind map is often created around a single concept, drawn as an image in the center of a blank page, to which associated representations of ideas such as images, words and parts of words are added. Major ideas are connected directly to the central concept, and other ideas branch out from those.                      I strongly recommend these maps to teach low proficiency children and mother tongue influenced children to teach English easily. Mostly we can develop writing skills with the help of  connecting ideas. . Once children are familiar with the concept maps then we move to mind map. Drawing a good mind map could turn that child as a deep digging writer. I tried in my classroom and got succeed. Now my children can write two to three sentences regarding that concept. In order to get good sentences from students teacher should concentrate on branches of that content or topic. If teacher gave proper subtopi

Running Race: A Comprehensive writing activity

Image
Activity: Running Race Competency : Reading and Writing Class : 3 and above                            This is an one of the good writing and reading activity. In this activity children can read, remember, recite and write the language content with great spirit.                              In this activity first we have to identify some sentences from a passage, Rhyme or in a Grammar part, which we are going to learn or practice. Then you should write each sentence on a small paper slip. You can give 5 to 7 sentences in this activity. Later you should place these sentences at varanda or out side of the class.                             Now you should group our students into pairs. In that pair one will be Reader and other one Writer. Like other pairs also should notify the Reader and Writer. Now teacher should give the instructions to all pairs, all readers should run out side the classroom, read and remember the sentence and rush to their partner who sat in the classr

In order to inculcate such idea teacher should exercise.                                                        I have got a such wonderful idea later I watched the ARVIND GUPTHA's website Toys from Trash. I prepared this ABAKAS and taught subtractions. wonderful that, my children got good understanding even in one period. It helped me to teach naturally.now  every second class children in my class able to do such problems.

Innovative borrow Maths activity

Teaching Borrow subtractions is some what difficult. But cards will us to teach in better understating way and if they familiar with this arrangement children automatically get good conceptual idea.   First see the below arrangement. In this arrangement every child should take 4 cards and place these cards like, bigger number should identify first and place the card right down corner. Later he should identify the next big number card and place right top corner (On the first big number card). Next he should identify the next big number card and place this card left top corner. Last card have to place in left down corner. Now he will get borrow math pattern. Ex: If he get 7,8,4 and 9, first identify the big number, that is 9. So he should place 9 first at right down corner. Later next big number 8, he should place 8 on the 9. Next big number 7, he should place at left top corner i.e before next to 8. Then he should place the last card at left down corner i.e under the 7. now he w

Board games play a crucial role in children's development and growth. It is an important aspect of brain development as they help acquire logical and reasoning skills, boost critical thinking and gain spatial reasoning. Playing board games helps with learning, social and communication skills as well. So here are some educational board games which can use in our classroom according to content or topic.                              I found these games on the American English at State website and used in my class with relevant modifications according to my lessons. These games were helped me to comprehend my students and practicing the topic easily and effectively. You need a dice to play these games. Need a minimum of two players. You can ask your pupil to say or write.  Make sure you should pre-teach the topic and also give a demo before playing the game. 1.ABOUT ME:  I used this game to introduce pupils and also ask questions to know about ano

Children fun Maths Activity..Solve It and Dot It.

Image
Topic: Four Fundamental Math Concepts Class: Primary                           Here is a great interesting activity to practice the simple math sums in a fun way for the primary children. I did with my first and second class children and they enjoyed a lot and it's a great practicing activity for them. Such type of activities helps children to learn individually and within their peer group.                         In this activity, I gave/wrote different types of addition and subtraction sums on a chart in blocks. And I mixed a colour in a tray. I asked my children to stand in a line and instructed them to go to the chart do one sum and dotted the answer with your coloured finger, and he/she should come back and stand last in that line. Like they continued until the sums completed. In this group activity, children correct their mistakes themselves. I found this on Pinterest and done in my class.

Superb primary Additions Activity "What are the two numbers give .........When they add."

Image
"What are the two numbers give .........When they add."                                            " Which numbers do give answer 20 when they add?"  When I asked this question to my children they didn't give answer even tough they knew the additions. Later I came to know I must teach additions in a different way. Later I got an idea and prepared a wooden tray and bought Marbles.                  Now I gave 10, 15, 9, 20..etc different count of marbles to my students and instructed them to place those marbles in two boxes of that tray as you like. Suppose one child placed or distributed his 15 marbles in two boxes like 9 and 6. Now I instructed my children to write those count of marbles on their slates like 9+6=15. Later I asked my children to shift one marble from one box and place that in other box. Now write the count of the marbles in two boxes. Then answer was 8+7=15.  I asked my children to continue like this and they wrote,

Topic: Additions Class: Primary Skill: Creative Thinking.                                        Maths is a horrible subject for students. But when they know the concept or basic, they will be a great Mathematicians. Here is a small idea and did with our children to do different types of additions. Some children know the additions but when we ask the same problem in a different way they can't do. My first class children had faced difficulty in solving "2+{   }=15" like sums even though they knew the additions.                                               So get them to understand I made a wooden tray like that (shown in the picture) to do different types of addition and subtraction sums. And I prepared number-cards along with that. Once I explained the concept, I asked my children to sit in a circle and I kept the number-cards bunch in the middle. Now I instructed my children everyone should take two cards from the bunch and place the smaller number card
