Skeletal System Overview /

The human skeleton is the internal framework consisting of 206 bones categorized into axial and appendicular systems, providing structure and support.

Competitive Exam Tip: Bones store calcium, and bone marrow produces blood cells. X-rays view fractures.

🧠 Skull (Cranium) /

The skull acts like a hard natural helmet composed of fused flat bones that completely enclose and safeguard the delicate brain.

Competitive Exam Tip: The skull protects the brain and is part of the axial skeleton.

🛡️ Ribcage (Thoracic Cage) /

A cage-like structure formed by curved ribs connected to the sternum. It shields vital chest machinery, specifically the heart and lungs.

Competitive Exam Tip: Ribs expand and contract rhythmically during breathing.

🚶 Spinal Column (Backbone) /

Built from 33 small stacked bones called vertebrae. It maintains an upright body posture and protects the central spinal cord.

Competitive Exam Tip: The spine supports the central axis of the body.

🦵 Femur (Thigh Bone) /

Located in the upper leg, the femur supports the weight of your entire upper body.
