Innovative Calendar Model to Teach Primary Classes

Lesson: Calendar
Subject: English
Grade: 2nd
Language Standards: Speaking, Reading, Writing and Creative Expression.

Teaching calendar to the young learners is a hard task. And also connecting to the language aspects is challenging to teachers. So I planned my lesson by integrating these objectives. I prepared the below model to help my students to understand and speak easily about the calendar.
My main motto is children should easily read and express the calendar and develop language functions related to a calendar. I started my lesson by showing a real calendar and asked a few questions. Then I explained, what is a calendar and why should we use the calendar. After they had a primary awareness of the calendar I showed my calendar model.
I saw this model on the PINTEREST and made some modifications according to my lesson. It's reusable and modifiable according to the year, month, season and weather. I explained how to describe the calendar. The description is

" There are 12 months in a year.
This month is April.
There are 7 days in a week.
Today is Monday.
Today's date is 14.
A month has 30 or 31 days.
Today's weather is sunny.
The season is summer.

Speaking Activity: (Onion Rings)
Later I planned a speaking activity by playing a language game called onion rings. To play this game we should divide the class into two groups. Ensure equal members in the groups. The groups should stand in two circles. One group is in the inner circle and another group is in the outer circle and facing each other. When the teacher says run, only outer students will run until says stop. The inner students shouldn't move. When the teacher says stop the outer students stop in front of a student who stands in the inner circle. Then they will ask a question to their inner partner he will give the answer. Like you can continue the game until they get the content well by changing the roles on the groups. (After some time changes the roles. Inner students will run and ask questions.) I gave these question and answers to practice in the game.
How many months in a year?
             Which month is this?
How many days in a week?
             What is today?
             What's today date?
             Which year is it?
How many days in a month?
             How is the weather today?
             Which session is it?
Children did very well and enjoyed. Even low-performance children were also learned quickly and read very well.

Later I conducted an activity to comprehend my students. They had given a worksheet of months of a year and month's name slips. I told my children to read and paste the months in the correct sequence on the worksheet. Finally, I asked them to present in front of the group.
