A creative writing task on a city.

Image
Topic: About your city. Grade: 4th class. Skills: Writing.                Writing is a complex skill to develop and master, focusing on both the end product and the steps to arrive there. Writing skills only develop when young learners are taught how to write and are given opportunities to practice these skills and strategies.                So such visual worksheets help young learners a lot to develop writing skills. Such worksheets and engaging writing tasks are very important, especially for second language learners. I gave this writing task after a lesson "A trip to Horsley Hills" The theme of the lesson is sightseeing. So after this, I asked my learners to write about their city.  Here is the digital lesson transaction. A trip to Horsley Hills

Subject : English Topic : SUPERSTITIONS Rhyme Grade : 4th Targeted Standards : Reading, Writing and creative Expression.

First of all I would like to thank to the author of the book Teaching Young Learners to Think to gave this great activity. I adopted that activity (Can you Read This) and prepared a new worksheet of my own to this activity. A rhyme about superstitions in grade IV.

To teach this rhyme first of all I showed a video of superstitions around the world. Later I interacted with my children by asking few questions, What are the superstitions?, What are the reasons to believe?..etc. Once I gave the explanation and reasons of the superstitions, I explained the rhyme while doing the choreography.

And it is very important to establish the concept very clearly to that little brains. So we need proper method and TLM. Moreover presentation and involving the students to grasp the concept is a challenging  task.                      Here I have done an activity to teach the basic concept of the multiplication to my children. Once I have taught the concept of the multiplication, (i.e multiple addition of the same number) I have asked my children to arrange the beads according to the given slips.                     What I have done, I have explained the meaning and concept of 2x3, 4x5, 6x3...etc, Later I have showed the concept and meaning by arranging the beads. Then I have checked their understanding by giving some problems on the blackboard to the whole class. At last I have given the proble…
